7 Tips For Stealing The Show

Business success is dependent on the knowledge of your clients. Customers will not want to seek out your business. They will want businesses that are familiar and available to them.

But how do you do that?

Trade shows or exhibitions are a great avenue to promote your business, your brand, and your products and services. They offer the chance to interact face-to-face with current and potential clients and are a great way to showoff the products and services on display. Use this form of marketing to gain sales leads and create more profit.

7 Tips for stealing the show

1. Research

Research trade shows well in advance to determine which show is right for you and your business. It is important to think about the amount of businesses attending the exhibition, the average number of attendees and whether your competitors will be trading. It could also be a good idea to interview past exhibitors and ask for their feedback to give you a rough idea as to what to expect.

2. Registration

Once you have decided which trade shows you would like to participate in, register with the organisers as early as possible. Many trade shows allow for easy registration online and some offer advanced registration discounts, saving your company hundreds if not thousands of pounds.

3. Attention

You need to attract the potential clients to your stand through free promotional items, literature, and interactive elements such as demonstrating a product. Choose a theme for your exhibition space and be sure to make it engaging, interesting and fun.

4. Objectives

Set objectives for yourself and your staff. Create a list of achievable objectives in order of their importance. Examples of objectives could be: collect “X” number of sales leads or gather research on competitor brands.

5. Publicity

Advertise that you will be attending the specific trade show through a direct mail letter to confirmed attendees and announce it on your website, social media, email campaigns, newsletters, blog, and even in email signatures.  If you plan to hold a contest or prize drawing to attract more people to your stand, promote that too. Let everyone know where your exhibition stand will be located so potential clients can find you easily.

6. Contests

A contest or prize drawing is a great way to attract potential customers to your stand. When promoting your attendance at the exhibition, ask attendees to visit your stand to complete a leads form in order to collect their details and be entered into the contest or prize drawing. Choose a prize that relates to your business, products, or services.

7. Preparation

Be sure to bring a good amount of supplies to the trade show so you do not run out of important literature, brochures, business cards, and giveaways. You always have less than you think you do so it is a good idea to take too many rather than too few. Review your research to know the number of attendees. Calculate a percentage of those attendees who may visit your stand and bring more than that number of materials in case. Realistically, not every attendee will visit your stand, however some people may wish to take several copies of your marketing collateral should your product or services prove useful to their colleagues or family. Generate enthusiasm with all staff that will be representing your company at your stand and make sure that they are knowledgeable about the company, all existing products and services, market trends, and competitors, so they can carry on an intelligent conversation with prospective customers. Encourage them to interact and engage with attendees, gather contact information with the lead forms and visit competitor stands.
