Make more… Do less… Have a happier, more productive team… Enjoy your business!

Have you got your business driving license?

Before you’re allowed to drive a car you go through a training process. You study for a theory test to understand how roads work, what warning signs look like, what safe parameters are for your car. You also take practical lessons giving you experience with an instructor on hand to guide you and ensure that when the moment comes you’re prepared for your test and you can be let loose on the road safely.

When you start your business – there is no theory test, there’s no practical instruction. You’re launched into a new world with new responsibilities and there are new challenges everywhere. You crash into cashflow issues, you steer into recruitment problems, you collide with competition, you hit a brickwall of time management!

80% of small businesses fail in the first 5 years. This is not because they weren’t capable of being a success but they had no experience and prior learning of how to be a success. No one had helped them, it wasn’t taught at school and they hadn’t the time, cash, opportunity or luck to survive the obstacles that are thrown in their way early on. Even those that survive and often flourish are often on a knife edge because the owner is gripping onto the steering wheel so tight to avoid danger and the next collision that they burnout or are never able to move onto the ‘motorway’ of sustainable, systemised growth.

Fuzz Muzzle Project

Last year, Oxygen Graphics had the opportunity to help Rob Hepburn, owner and founder of Fuzz Muzzle, develop his brand of unique, beard protecting and styling balms.

Rob began formulating his own beard products at home, cooking different recipes, until he found the perfect Sticky Toffee Beard Balm which he sold in a local store. News travelled fast and people from different areas wanted their hands on his products. Oxygen Graphics applied their creative skills into the logo, the labels for the packaging of the Fuzz Muzzle balms, oils and waxes and other print material. Fuzz Muzzle’s Sticky Toffee Beard Balm was even featured in GQ Magazine and has received a lot of positive feedback.

Oxygen worked with Fuzz Muzzle designing and creating the woocommerce website which includes product ordering, content management, Instagram integration and a blogging platform. Fuzz Muzzle and Oxygen Graphics also collaborated with Annie Johnston Photography to produce the great, gangster-style photos for the website and Instagram feed.  We make sure our websites are responsive on mobiles, tablets, PC’s and MAC’s as well as ensuring they perform well on search engines.

Rugby Fireworks

It’s that time of year to wrap up warm and watch another terrific firework event! Oxygen Graphics is working closely with Rugby Round Table, the organisers of the biggest and best Firework event in the area, to increase awareness of the event and sell tickets. The design team created the artwork based on a “Tiki” theme for this event which is used on various marketing collateral including posters, leaflets and external banners. Oxygen also designed and developed the website for Rugby Fireworks where a video from last year’s event is displayed. The importance of marketing events is to choose the right applications and channels to make sure the marketing message is constant.

Oxygen Graphics designed and created this poster along with other marketing collateral to advertise the event.

Rugby Fireworks has been held every year on the Saturday closest to Guy Fawkes’ Night since it was established by Rugby Round Table in 1956. This year, the gates open at 4pm on Saturday 7th November at the Whinfield Rec on Clifton Road.

All the profits from ticket sales will go towards good causes and local charities. So why not treat yourself to a fantastic night full of entertainment and support the charity event? Tickets cost £5 in advance, £7 on the gate and children under 3 are free!

This epic night will include performances by: Area 51 fire performers, White Men Can’t Funk, Speak Brother and Silver Side.

Watch the video below to get a real feel of how great the event was last year!

Rock Solid History

Rugby – the town, mind you, not the sport – has been enjoying its moment in the spotlight thanks to the Rugby World Cup. While we’re proud of all the coverage, it’s also a great time to point out that our town history involves a lot more than the creation of throwing a ball backwards.

Cue the Rugby Portland Cement Transport. Granted (pun intended), while some might not think that our rock history is as exciting as an international sporting event, the niche group of Rugby business and transportation history enthusiasts would disagree with you.

Oxygen was happy to collaborate on book design and layout with author Glen McBirnie on his recent and impressive book, Rugby Portland Cement Transport: a story of vehicles and their drivers. The 296-page book boasts photos from a private collection of more than 40 photo albums covering a variety of subjects on the British road transport scene from post-war years up to the 1980s.

McBirinie’s first book on RPC Transport “A Story of Vehicles and their Drivers” has sold over 1,400 copies since its release in 2002, both here in the United Kingdom and overseas.

Rugby Portland Cement Transport is available for purchase at WH Smith and Hunts Bookshop. Additional copies can be ordered through Amazon or Crown House or borrowed from the Rugby Library.

Do you have a book project coming up or a complicated design concept you’re mulling over? Give us a call – we’re happy to show you our work, our customer reviews and discuss how we can help bring your project to life.

Oxygen Graphics Sponsors First UK International Segway Polo Tournament

The Venue: Rugby town centre.

The Participants: 50 brave local souls.

The Sport: Polo

And not a horse in sight.

No, the entire town wasn’t hallucinating or playing an elaborate game of make believe; rather they were trying their hand at Segway Polo – an old sport with a new twist. The Segway polo demonstration, which took place as part of Love Rugby Town 1st Thursdays initiative, was held to promote the International Segway Polo Tournament being held at Rugby College on April 19.

Oxygen Graphics is a proud sponsor of the 2015 International Segway Polo Tournament. The Rugby-based design team provided the logo, banners, invitations, posters and other promotional material.

“We wanted to sponsor this event because of the message the sport conveys,” said Malcolm Freeman, Oxygen Graphics owner. “It’s a fun and interesting all-inclusive event. It’s a sport of equals. It’s open to everyone – young, old – all abilities. That was important to us.”

Other local sponsors include Brownsover Hall Hotel, acting as the main hotel sponsor of the event, Rugby FM, official media partner and the Rugby Round Table, who are providing day-of volunteers.

So far sixteen teams from around the world will compete in the UK’s first international Segway polo tournament, with five of those teams from the UK. Other countries participating include Barbados, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.

“The crowd at the March 5 inaugural 1st Thursdays event really enjoyed the Segway polo display,” Malcolm Freeman said. “Based on their interest at the demonstration, I can imagine the turnout at the actual tournament is going to be high.”
